The 2007 Sunday School picnic will take place at Look Park in Northampton on Sunday August 12th from Noon to 5:00 p.m. All are welcome. Children from pre-school through grade are encouraged to enroll in our church school program, which meets at 10:00 am on Sunday mornings. We also have a nursery available for the children which has a crib and children's toys and books. Grace Church is dedicated to educating the children of our parish in a meaningful way. Children are taught the importance of the Word of God, kindness to others, and the value of community. We strive to present an engaging curriculum that will prepare each child to become an active adult member of our parish. The education of our students engages their hearts, their minds and their hands, preparing them for a lifelong relationship with God. Our curriculum for the year 2005-2006 was based on the study of Saints and Angels. In 2004-2005 we studied the animals of the bible. For 2006-2007 we plan on centered our curriculum on giving thanks through charity to others. Some of the activities we have planned for 2006-2007 included: Christmas Pageant The children participate in a pageant that tells the story of Christ's birth.
Thanksgiving Bread Baking The children bake breads the weekend before Thanksgiving to donate to the local shelters. The breads are added to Thanksgiving meals that are given to families in need.
Sledding Pizza Party Enjoy a fun day of sledding, pizza and fellowship.
Soup Kitchen Volunteers Children will be invited to participate in serving meals at a local soup kitchen.
Family Fun Day A parish-wide event. This party is usually held at the end of the Sunday School year. Different activities are planned each year from a visit to Roger Williams Zoo in Rhode Island to a family picnic at Look Park in Northampton.
Serving on the AltarChildren from grade 3 and up may choose to be trained to serve as acolytes, participating and assisting in worship services on a scheduled rotating basis. | ||||
